Trained at the London College of Fashion in the 1990s, armed with pattern cutting skills and an eye for fit and detail, Sophie launched her career as a couture bridal designer selling at Liberty and Harrods. Followed by designing bespoke uniforms worn by staff at The Dorchester and numerous City law firms. Author of acclaimed ‘Sewing Patterns 200 Questions & Answers’. But for all her London success, she could never resist the call of the sea and moved to the Sussex coast for a new adventure.
The elegant and iconic designs have been inspired by the carefree 1970s, sparked by memories of childhood holidays spent on beaches and boats, echoing the vibrant towelling dresses worn by designer Sophie English’s stylish mother and influenced by her fashion conscious friends.
Each garment is hand finished, with double stitched seams and taped hems. Large zipped pockets allow all your essentials to be easily accessible. Every dress is accompanied by its own beautiful matching towelling bag with a contrasting rope drawstring. The fabric and features are sourced with sustainability and durability in mind, from the bespoke zips which are made from polished and recycled stainless steel, to the use of vintage parachute silk for the pockets and drawstring bags.
The elegant designs are timeless and designed to stay with you from one beach to the next, holiday to holiday, season after season. With everything proudly manufactured in the UK, the SoEnglish dress is surely one piece to be added to every stylish beach goer’s wardrobe.
