Emma Willis, English shirt maker in London, trained at the Slade School of Art before starting her business in 1987, designing and making men's luxury shirts, all made in England. In 1999, she opened her elegant and intimate shop in Jermyn Street, on the corner of St James's and in 2010 her English shirt making Factory opened in the centre of historic Gloucester. Her Philosophy is to adhere to traditional English shirt making techniques, using luxurious Swiss and West Indian Sea Island Cottons.

PROVENANCE

Bearland House is an elegant 18th Century townhouse in the centre of historic Gloucester and home to the Emma Willis Factory. Here their luxury shirts, boxer shorts, pyjamas, dressing gowns and walking socks are made using traditional methods of cutting and sewing, making to the highest standards. Cutting by hand, patterns are matched at the seams and sewn 18 stitches to the inch using single needle stitching for the neatest, strongest seams. Collars are hand trimmed before turning to ensure clean cut, sharp points, small handmade gussets at the side seams and finished with real Mother of Pearl buttons. All of their trimmings and components are sourced in England. Cutters and machinists Norman, Andrew, Kath, Karen, Steph, Jackie, Lyn, Megan, Lucie, Karen, Cara, Ellie, Mandy and Maureen are highly skilled and take great pride in their work. Ending, pressing, folding and packing are carried out with care and attention by Emma, Christine and Chloe.

Emma Willis sources all of their trimmings, components and packaging in England. Emma Willis uses Swiss Cottons, Italian Silks and Irish Linens, many of which are exclusive to their Collections.
