116 – Where are we on PPE?

In episode 114 I asked ‘PPE – can we make it in the UK?‘ and on today’s episode I thought it would be good to update you.

It has been 5 weeks since the Government put a call out for businesses to help manufacturer PPE. Since then hundreds of UK manufacturers have filled in the form on the government website and stepped up to offer their help and support.

Make it British has created the British Textile Consortium to help bring together UK manufacturers that can help.

So where have we got to on UK-made PPE?

This episode gives you an update and where we have got to so far and what one of the biggest challenges is when it comes to providing a long term solution to the problem.

Surely with the technology and machinery that is available these days We can produce items that perform to QA and QC “rules” first time?
There still seems to be a problem throughout the country at all levels, going back to our Empire Days- we seem to still have the opinion that we owe everybody else.
We don’t, only ourselves; knock down Cameron’s .8% of GDP ONLY to emergencies eg earthquakes, typhoons and Back Britain in all that we buy and respect our Planet throughout the manufacturing and supplier base. Lead the World!!!
I am forever looking at Company’s bases and who owns whom, and the stuff on the side of products as well as the ingredients that don’t cost the “earth” and try to buy (for me) from Kent, England then UK.
