An inspirational British brand: Old Town

Old Town British ClothingLast Sunday I was invited to a unique shopping event in one of the gorgeous Huguenot houses in Spitalfields, held by Old Town, a fantastic British clothing company.

Old Town are a clothing manufacturer, based in the beautiful Norfolk town of Holt, who make traditional British workwear. The sort of hardwearing, well constructed clothes that most places just don’t make any more.

Once in a while they venture down to London, and pitch up in this fabulous old Georgian house, to treat us Londoners to their carefully constructed range of made to order cotton and tweed loveliness.

You just select from their evolving range of styles for both men and women, choose your size, fabrics and colours and off they go to make them. All of the garments are made in England by skilled craftsmen and arrive in a fantastic brown paper package tied up with string approximately 4 to 6 weeks later. And they’re well worth waiting for.

For those that missed the event, or aren’t traveling to Norfolk any time soon, they have a website that shows the clothes, although it’s not currently transactional. A few pieces from the range are also available to buy from Labour & Wait in Spitalfields.
