The Welsh Girl was founded by Julie Leonard in 2015 on returning to her Welsh roots after 25 years in the fashion and photographic industry in London. With a passion for wool and a vision to re-ignite and celebrate the heritage textiles of Wales she works with the cloth in a unique and contemporary way.
The fabric, 100% wool, consists of the iconic double weave often referred to as Welsh Tapestry; and Welsh flannel, a single weave cloth with a long and interesting history. Working closely with the mill, the cloth is woven in limited edition runs and colour combinations unique to TWG©.
Each piece is designed and handmade at TWG© studio in Hay on Wye, a small town in the foothills of the Black Mountains. The range consists of the signature poncho, coler cwtch scarves, bags, belts, cushions and bespoke soft furnishings. TWG© also offers one of a kind commissions and collaborations.
Quality, craftsmanship, functionality, and sustainability are at the core of the brand. Beautiful lifestyle designs inspired by workwear and created in colours taken from the landscape – practical, timeless, unisex pieces that are versatile and made to last.
A MODERN TAKE ON TRADITION… keeping the looms going and heritage alive!
