Roslyn Whiting Leathercraft

Roslyn Whiting Leathercraft was launched in 2011 with the aim of using traditional methods to produce quality leathergoods with a creative twist, that are both stylish and built to last for life’s adventures.

Care and attention to detail is given throughout the whole process using traditional craftsmanship where the focus is on making quality products that will last. All products are handmade and hand-stitched using the distinctive saddlery stitch.

We have a great history in Britain of making quality products so I source as many as I can from Britain. All the leather for my Eildon Collection is sourced direct from British tanneries. My buckles are all solid brass and made in one of Britain’s last foundries.

All leathergoods are made with vegetable tanned leather which is the traditional way of preserving the leather using tree bark. It takes longer to tan but it uses less chemicals than the chrome tanned process – so gentler on the environment. Vegetable tanned leather is more tactile and each hide displays a unique natural grain and character. As you use your product, over time it will develop a beautiful patina – showing the journey you share together.

Everything is designed and made in my workshop in Melrose in the heart of the Scottish Borders. Taking inspiration from the beautiful surrounding countryside for my designs. All my products take their names from local places like Leaderfoot and Oakwood Burn. All products in the Oakwood Burn range are made from oak tanned leather from the last tannery in Britain that still uses oak bark to tan leather. There is a Burn (Scottish term for fresh spring or brook) near the workshop that is called Oakwood Burn. The name fits so well with the leather and products.

As well as stock items I can make a bespoke item for you. With the Leaderfoot range you can choose the leather and stitching colour combination you wish, giving you your own unique style.

My customers are important, I want you to enjoy your experience of buying and using my products. If you need any help or have any questions please contact me.
