Established in 1976, Channel Jumper was started as a Cottage Industry with the intention to revive the Alderney jumper which had not been seen for decades and to establish a knitting industry on the island. Today, Channel Jumper produces a range of different designs, many of which are unique to us.
OUR COMPANY WAS STARTED AS A COTTAGE INDUSTRY IN 1976 ON THE ISLAND OF ALDERNEY, PART OF THE BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY.
The intention was to revive the Alderney sweater which had not been in production for over 50 years,
and to establish a knitting industry on the Island.
Today the company produces a wide range of traditional Guernsey, Alderney and Jersey jumpers.
Applying traditional techniques and patterns as well as using only the finest British Worsted Wool is a matter of course.
OUR WOOL STARTS ITS LIFE UPON THE FELLS AND DOWNS OF THE BRITISH COUNTRYSIDE.
The garments we produce use Worsted wool which is hand graded for the finest quality and fibre thickness.
This results in a sustainable, completely natural garment.
Our traditional sweaters are knitted with close stitches from tightly twisted wool and this gives it its ability to
withstand sea spray and rain. The result is a strong, longlasting garment that will hold its shape better in both wear and washing.
