British knitwear designer Samantha Brooke, founder of ‘Waring Brooke’ takes a multi-pronged approach to reducing fashion waste with a vision of the future firmly in mind.
Based in rural Nottingham, England, Waring Brooke creates luxury knitwear designed for those who share their love of the outdoors and who have an interest in protecting the British countryside.
With the majority of used clothes ending up in landfill or being incinerated which then releases more carbon into the atmosphere, the ethos
is to create timeless quality pieces in a responsible and ecological way which are designed to last.
As seen in Vogue and highlighted as ‘one to watch’ within the fashion industry, Samantha is passionate about changing consumer attitudes to buying clothes and wants people to become more aware of waste. After years of styling commercial jobs with international designers, Samantha became disheartened with mass production and the increasing damaging impact on the environment. Growing up in a family involved with recyclable energy, she has always been very aware of waste and carbon footprint, so being able to join her love of fashion and ethics made total sense.
“We are passionate about the move away from fast fashion which is polluting our planet. One solution lies in buying less and choosing better quality items that are made as ethically as possible.”
The ethically sourced natural fibres are biodegradable and created to be as hard wearing as possible, suitable for those living an urban or country lifestyle. Luxurious knitwear for women and men, including accessories, can be personalised with your initials for a truly unique gift.
The mix of traditional and contemporary designs will still look great in 10 years and playful patterns, sleek designs and earthy colours inspired by the outdoors reflect a spirit of adventure.
