From must-have colourful Fair Isle cashmere knitwear to waxed cotton bespoke tartan-lined coats, pampered pooches can now dress to impress with the debut of BONE IDOL – a new proudly British brand of luxury canine apparel and accessories.
Launched on 26th August, BONE IDOL’S collection for town and country dogs is manufactured exclusively in Great Britain using the finest materials, combining traditional craftsmanship with a modern approach to design.
Made to order for 12 different breeds – from a tiny teacup Yorkie to a statuesque Greyhound – BONE IDOL’S inaugural collection is a portrait of simple yet sophisticated British style.
The range includes classic cashmere knitwear (from £160), soft Italian shearling coats with brass adornments (£490), waxed cotton jackets lined with bespoke tartan (from £290), beautiful English bridle leather accessories (from £80), organic rare-breed shearling bags (£225), silver and bronze hand-cast charms (from £62), and silk hand-embroidered badges (£35).
Dog devotee and former advertising creative, Jane Eakhurst, couldn’t find beautifully hand-tailored and finely finished items for her own dogs that would be comparable to any designer garment in her own wardrobe, that would also last a lifetime, so the idea for BONE IDOL was born with Jane co-designing the collection.
Jane said “We think dogs should look as good as their style conscious owners so have created an ultra-luxe range of clothing and accessories to reflect this. Discerning dog owners don’t always want fast-fashion that the dog will look good in on the first couple of wears; they want to invest in items that will last the lifetime of their beloved dog and can then be handed down, as an heirloom piece. They also care that their dogs look good all year round, and would be just as happy dressing them in a cashmere knit for cool summer evenings, or a waxed cotton jacket for a lunch date in the city – not to mention the stormproof coat for our unpredictable weather!“
Sustainability matters to BONE IDOL and the brand is committed to supporting small UK manufacturers wherever possible, thereby keeping their carbon footprint as tiny as they can.
They work with carefully selected ateliers in the UK such as The London Cloth Co http://www.londoncloth.com/ who supply the brand’s beautiful bespoke tartan. And Tim Hardy https://www.timhardy.com/ the specialist leather goods manufacturer based in Worcestershire who hand-makes all the collars and leads.
Jane has three dogs herself – Frank the British Bulldog who is the brand’s chief ambassador and muse, Nancy Noodle the Cocker Spaniel and her son, Buster Blue. All three dogs feature in Bone Idol’s first fashion shoot.
