Katie Walker established her design studio in 1994 to realise her highly individual pieces of furniture. These are beautifully crafted, the result of working closely with skilled craftsmen and specialised workshops across the UK, and often extend the boundaries of what are essentially traditional processes.
She is not lead by fashion or current trends but rather by the ambition of achieving a pure, visually simple, balanced design whose form has been developed in conjunction with its structure.

Her work includes a broad portfolio of pieces of ranging scale and materials. Over the last twenty years or so her designs have been recognised with many awards and pieces can be found in public galleries and private collections worldwide.

Working pre-dominantly in wood she believes that “timber is our primary natural renewable resource and that the most ecologically sound solution is to design with longevity in mind”. All Katie Walker furniture is made from sustainably sourced timber, most of which is from the UK. Timber is only sourced from forests certified by the FSC and Katie is proud to support British forestry with the knowledge that it will provide a well managed sustainable resource for the future.

She has an uncompromising commitment to quality, a rigorous approach to the process of design and is passionate about keeping the industry alive.
