A lifelong hatred of waste and love of textiles lead to the creation of Losana B, who take fabrics otherwise destined as waste and give them new purpose as bags and more.
Sharron Barton, founder of Losana B, started sewing as a child, she had the best dressed Sindy and Tiny Tears in school! By senior school she was the one wearing designer originals nobody else had because she had the skills and ability to make her own clothes. Throughout education and career Sharon never stopped sewing, creating clothing for herself and friends - everything from scarves to wedding dresses as well as altering shop bought and second hand clothing. Sharron has always been an avid re-user of everything hating waste and the ever growing landfill problem.
Sharron combined her mission to combat waste with her sewing and design skills to create Losana B. Now she takes textiles that are destined for waste and transforms them into beautiful new things. Clothing is deconstructed to reclaim the fabric, remnants from local curtain makers are snapped up before they are binned, old shop stock and factory stock is diverted from the unwanted pile in forgotten back storerooms into her workroom. Once she rescued a huge stock of upholstery fabrics moments before it went into a skip!
Losana B products are mainly bags that Sharron designs from scratch, no commercial patterns are used. No glue is used in construction, everything is sewn together even if that means doing it by hand, so that they too can be deconstructed at the end of their useful life and the components reused again. Sharron endeavors to minimise the use of new products in her making and where she does need new components they are sourced from within the UK, even the components that can't be sourced as made in UK to support other small businesses here.
A Losana B product is made with love and care. Custom makes are a specialty - Sharron relishes the challenge of creating a bag to fit exactly what the customer wants to carry in it in the colours the customer loves. Ready made bags and more are often available to buy and each one is unique - no bag is ever created in exactly the same style, fabric and finish twice.
