Jardine of London was founded by Mary Jardine in 2014. Mary designs her luxury handbags and accessories and has them all handcrafted in England by highly skilled craftspeople.
Mary believes in ‘responsible manufacturing’ and is proud to say all her products are handcrafted in England. Her designs are clean aesthetically chic & elegant – whilst at the same time offer a functional and necessary purpose.
Mary's inspiration for the gold star used in the brand name comes from the Jardine Star Brooch which was bequeathed to Queen Elizabeth II in 1981 by Lady Jardine. The brooch has eight points and a diamond is placed on a knife-wire between each point.
Her first collection used the softest calf leather which gives her bags their luxurious feel. For her second collection, she has used the most sumptuous goat-skin from a British tannery. It is equally soft, durable and will patina beautifully with age.
Mary's inspiration for her first bag came from childhood memories of her leather music case – hence the music bar detail. She always wondered what it would be like to have something incredibly chic with lovely clean lines incorporating the bar but at the same time being practical. She feels she has achieved it with the Jardine of London ‘Queen’ and ‘City’ Bag.
Jardine of London have so far made bags for a number of celebrities including Keira Knightley, Naomie Harris, Emma Watson, Rosamund Pike, Naomi Watts and Dame Judi Dench.
