From Tannery to Leathergoods: The History of Tusting

We interview Gillian Tusting, from the family run leathergoods company Tusting

The Tusting family counts five generations as part of the English leather trade.

The business began as a tannery, but diversified into leathergoods production in the 1980s, a time when other factories were closing down.

Their leathergoods started by rescuing two machinists and machinery from factories that were closing down.

Fast forward 28 years and one of those machinists is the factory manager and they now employ over 35 staff.

The company boasts prestigious clients such as Aston Martin, and their own brand of luggage, handbags and leather goods is an export success.

Gillian Tusting, the company’s head of marketing and e-commerce, talks to us about the Tusting family history, their journey through diversifying for success and discusses the leather industry in the UK today.

You can find out more about Tusting and their products here, and at tusting.co.uk.

Interesting interview! Would have liked to see Gillian surrounded by their luggage and bags to give a better idea of what the company is about.
I would choose the Holly if I was the lucky winner…..
Please tell me if this counts as an entry to the competition.
