Member News: Acre & Holt launch sustainable clothing at Chelsea Flower Show

Acre & Holt UK gardening clothing brand

New gardening clothing brand, Acre & Holt, launches at RHS Chelsea this year and vows to wage war on the ubiquitous microfibre-shedding fleece.

Working in collaboration with award-winning landscape architect and garden designer, Marian Boswall, Acre & Holt have designed a women’s working tweed gilet. Perfect for people who live and work outdoors and providing a natural alternative to the fleece.

Designer, Zara d’Abo is based in Frome, Somerset and has been working with Scottish mills since 2013.

Zara, commenting on her inspiration for the collection, says:

I am passionate about life outdoors. I’m happiest when I am warm and comfortable in it and delighted when I know I am not costing the earth in what I wear.

Made in Britain, their hand-finished range of tweed clothing is the perfect addition to any gardening wardrobe. Lined in 100% cotton ticking, with waterproof lined pockets, it is the ultimate workwear.

With sustainability at the heart of what Zara creates, she continues:

When you consider that each fleece sheds up to 1.7 grammes of microfibres with EVERY wash, it is time to take a stand. 85% of the human-made debris on shorelines around the world is made up of these microfibres.
